Clery Compliance Toolset Now Available From United Educators

March 06, 2018

As fines increase and the Department of Education continues to aggressively enforce the Clery Act, public safety officers report that compliance is time-consuming and detracts from their work of proactively protecting the community.

To streamline the process of compiling, presenting, and distributing Clery data, United Educators has partnered with Husch Blackwell to offer the Clery Compliance Toolset. This suite of tools provides one source for tracking campus policies, logging crime and fire incidents on and off-campus, and generating an institution’s Annual Security Report.

This timely offering addresses key issues for which colleges and universities are subject to substantial fines, such as failure to publish or properly distribute a complete and accurate Annual Security Report, under-reporting crime statistics, and noncompliance with requirements related to the institution’s drug and alcohol abuse prevention program.

Constance Neary, VP of risk management for United Educators, says “The Clery Compliance Toolset is a cost-effective advancement that can benefit every higher ed institution. Last year, the Department of Education increased the potential fine per Clery Act violation to nearly $55,000. No institution is too large or small to avoid these requirements.”
